Resilience is a word we have heard over and over this year,

the definition of resilience is “the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties” we are, have been and continue to be extraordinarily resilient, adapting and modifying our lives within the various parameters set out by our Government.

And as the party season approaches, those in Tiers 1 & 2 who are permitted to meet people in outdoor settings are doing just that, adjusting their festive plans and making the best of the situation they can, drinking in groups of six whilst eating substantial meals but refraining from singing christmas songs or getting up to dance, should the urge take them, its a compromise but one so many of us are willing to put up with in order to enjoy merriment with friends and family.

Bars & Restaurants lucky enough to have outdoor seating have been quick to make alterations in order that punters can continue to dine al fresco, despite the inclement British winter, adding heaters, canopies, even erecting shed style seating areas, but with the best will in the world none of these measures are going to allow you to sit outside in a sequin party dress and bare legs without freezing, so we too must adapt and make our party wear outdoor friendly, the easy option would be to opt for a floor length puffa coat, worn over a cozy tracksuit, but this is Christmas, and we can do better than that, with a little careful preparation.

Layers should form the base, black thermals if like me you are eternally nesh, simple jersey will do for those with a well functioning body temperature. Next up, waist up, just like on all those dreadful zoom calls it is from the waist up that you need to raise your game, this is when to wear your contrast lapels, bright silk pussy bows, sequin collars and lame blouses,  keep everything interesting where it can be seen, close to your neck, and with a coat worn open, statement gold jewellery, pretty jewelled earrings and cocktail rings worn on polished finger nails, perhaps a bold coloured lip for good luck.

We can do this, and we can do it in Style, go forth and make out-door dressing up “a thing’
