Get in there early
I gave you your 5 minute warning about buying your swimwear early back at Easter, if you are planning on wandering around the high street looking for bikinis and costumes you are too late, the shop assistants will look at you with pity, they know your type scanning the shop desperately for some semblance of a holiday area, alas if there is one its a sad and withered category with only the dregs remaining.
If you like me, felt prepared for your jaunt but pulled out your perfectly good swimwear only for it to have somehow shrunk whilst in storage (insert shocked face emoji) and you face having to replace it at short notice, all is not lost, allow me to direct you to the largest swimwear department ever, its hidden in plain sight on the internet.
Kicking off with Stay Wild, even if you don’t dip your feet in the water further than your ankled don’t let their enthusiasm for wild swimming put you off, this brand make great sustainable swimwear in sizes 6-24, bikinis with a lot and a little coverage depending on your preference and sporty zip front styles which are very Elle Mcpherson, perfect if you are into paddle boarding, my favourite is the Thea swimsuit, its a minimal swimsuit with slim straps and a square cut, perfect if you don’t need a cup size swimsuit.
If cup sizes are a must then Tona the Label caters for C - G cup in sizes 8-20, choose from abstract prints, 70s inspired towelling and great solid colours too in super soft fabrics, another sustainably focused brand, their imagery is stunning, if i had of been blessed with boobs I would wear the Ava Bikini.
If glamour is high on your list for swimwear and you don’t mind splurging a couple of hundred pounds of a swimsuit (and you are sized between 4-14) then take a look at Jade Swim, more beach club vibes then beach with kids, lot of super sexy barely there straps but they also sell the contour swimsuit, which comes in loads of colours including a very bong girl metallic that promises to sculpt and support which is never a bad thing.
I could go on and on, but i didn’t think I could finish off a swimwear edit without mentioning SeaFolly, which won’t be a new name to most people, if it is and you have been wearing high street swim until now then SeaFolly should be your first go-to, the brand has been around since 1975, its Australian, and they know a thing or two about swim. The collection is huge and so although there are lots of stockists its worth looking around as they won’t all have the same pieces, look after them and they will last for years, I can attest to that. The fits are great and so is the price and the size range.
Don’t buy the dregs of high street swimwear, shop around and buy swim you will wear for summers to come.
