Omit that
Every time, Every single time we get a bit of sunshine i race to write about it and every single time the weather makes a mockery of my positivity and by the time the ink is dry, it rains, this time Ive decided to push on through regardless because even if by the time you read this we are experiencing anything other than sunshine as sure as eggs are eggs at some point we will get unexpected warm weather again and you’ll be glad you’re armed with my advice.
I love sunshine, I really do, its awesome, i am one of those cold blooded animals who would much rather be sweltering than cold, you won’t find me moaning its too hot, I’m happy as a clam basking in the heat. The clothes required for this Vitamin D heavy season however leave me cold. You see, i like a layer, no correct that I love a layer, and while i like being warm I’m not completely bereft of my senses, even I don’t layer up in this weather, and the problem with the omittance of layers is that the outfits are less interesting.
Im also not a fan of dressing like I’m going to the beach unless I’m going to the beach, for me there has to be a line in the proverbial sand between holiday clothes and clothes for hot days at home, my beach clothes only come out if the passport does too, This isn’t about modesty, I’m here for legs, arms and décolletage but summer in the city can lead to loosening up too much, bra straps with halter dresses? that dress thats actually a kaftan, if its back garden sunbathing your home, your castle, crack on but summer in the City doesn’t have to mean taking leave of your every day style.
Summer in the City can be super chic, i know it can be tricky, hot sticky commute into cold air conditioned office, and i realise we don’t get a lot of sun so the temptation can be to dress to “catch a tan” but thats when things start to go wrong, the aim of dressing for hot weather is staying cool but we don’t always have to stick to the one dimensional sun dress, try a linen waistcoat with wide leg trousers and a cotton shirt is the best layer for this weather, throw it over a strappy dress and belt it once you’re safely under the air con.
Feel Hot, Look Cool. Sounds interesting to me.
