Its a good start
Scrolling through the imagery and videos of Paris fashion week, It occurred to me that rather than give you a round up of what’s going to be in fashion for Spring Summer 2025 perhaps you would prefer to know how you can update your wardrobe for right now, so that’s what’s going to happen, I will serve you up some easy, affordable and wearable ways to refresh your style without spending a lot of money or time.
Reach into your wardrobe and pull out the following, a dark blazer, wide leg trousers, they can be plain, grey, pinstripe, black, they all work, a knit, cardigan or crew neck, if you have red even better, even if it doesn’t fit or has seen better days that’s ok too, a white t-shirt / shirt (if you have an oversized or mens version, perfect) now dark denim, its been a while but indigo denim is ready for its moment in the spotlight, so if you have dark denim in a shirt, or jeans, drag them out, yes you can wear them together, double denim is still great but right now we want them as separates, trainers, if you bought sambas, gazelle or have a simple white pair grab those and lastly a trench if you have one.
If you have these, you have a really strong start to the season, styled well you might not need much else, the updates you might want to make are mostly accessories, flats, ballet shoes with a strap, studded versions are good too or maybe a loafer, if you are opting for a loafer then get yourself some decent coloured socks, tonal would be the most debonair, and lastly a belt, burgundy or oxblood, I always get extra holes punched into my new belts so I can wear them through belt loops or over jackets, bag wise something slouchy in suede will work with all of this.
Ok now we have the basics sorted now it’s time to turn them into multiple inter-changeable outfits. Let’s start with the white shirt, tucked in the front of your indigo denim jeans, belt through the loops, add loafers and a trench with the red knit tied over the shoulders. Outfit 2, take your wide trousers, pair with a white t-shirt and ballet pumps, add your blazer and cinch at the waist with your burgundy belt (over the blazer) you might need to wrap the blazer at the front or create a pleat at the back of the jacket so its cinched not bunched, add trainers to this outfit, remove the belt and layer your denim shirt underneath the blazer, that’s outfit number 3.
By now you will be getting the jist that I am not reinventing the wheel here. New season doesn’t mean a whole new wardrobe, just a fresh approach to styling your existing one and a little accessory shaped refreshment.
