Vicky B's Secret Winter Weapon

Vicky B's Secret Winter Weapon

I couldn’t let the latest Victoria Beckham documentary go without comment. I love Victoria Beckham, Always have, She was my favourite Spice Girl, Then when she married David Beckham in 1999 I paid an exorbitant amount of money whilst on holiday to buy a copy of OK magazine so I could devour the details of her Vera Wang wedding dress, The neckline was described as a “crumb catcher” and I remember repeating the term later and feeling very knowledgeable. All this said I have never wanted to dress like Mrs Beckham, I experimented once with a strapless corset and jeans but penchant for slim fitting, body hugging and high heels with everything even during the day, just isn’t me.

She’s incredibly polished, Even in the early days prior to her having that rich woman gloss it was obvious she got out of bed that little bit earlier to preen and I am far too lazy for that. I also prioritise comfort, especially in the footwear department, I can’t imagine ever wearing the humongous heels I favoured in my 20s and early 30s ever again.

although VBs style has moved on a lot from her Herve Leger bandage dress days she still favours slim silhouettes, if she’s wearing something oversized there will be an element of exposed skin in the form of a deep neckline or a bare arm and unless it’s a very special occasion I opt for far more coverage.

All that being said, There is one element of Victoria Beckham's look that I covet, It’s often overlooked and yet in my humble opinion the most wearable. It’s often a blink and you’ll miss it moment, It's a look she reserves for leaving a hotel but I have also spotted it at the end of her fashion shows when she comes to take a bow (or rather blow a kiss to her husband as become her custom greeting) Beckham has the best selection of slouchy, expertly oversized roll necks, The neck is always high enough to nestle her chin into, Oversized but never slouchy and she favours a neutral palette, Oatmeal, Navy Blue, Charcoal, Its no surprise her knitwear is top drawer given she is the owner of a fashion brand, Knitwear from her namesake brand costs upwards of £700 so I have some more affordable options and in the name of keeping things easy I found them all in COS, A cashmere blend chunky cardigan, A fine merino knit poloneck in merlot (the same merlot as featured on Victoria Beckham's own website) and a crew neck cashmere jumper, each one priced under £200.

This is your early cold weather warning, Posh knitwear doesn't hang about.
