The fashion week trend you can actually wear
I could talk about London Fashion Week until I am blue in the face,There is something about fashion week held in the capital in a transitional month like September, The weather is unpredictable and so are the outfits, As is to be expected from British Designers including Edeline Lee, Mark Fast & Erdem plus Irish Simone Rocha. Plus London is the home of Luxury brand Burberry whose show inspired by the rich British music scene was not only stunning but was almost stolen by Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley sitting front row.
From the street style to the catwalks London Fashion did not disappoint; it always offers something a little bit different to the other fashion weeks. But seen as though the catwalk items are not even in production until Summer 2026 how about we take the best bits from London street style and see how they work in our “normal” lives, Lives that may involve a school run, work and or a commute on public transport, If you fit into this category then step right up.
Let's start with suede. The trend for this soft velvety napped fabric was apparent earlier this year, But after an unexpectedly warm summer it was forced to lay low until now and its been a full on scrum to see which retailers can come up with the best options. The focus is on jackets, boxy or bomber and while chocolate brown comes up trumps for being the easiest colour to wear in suede as it shows less marks, There is little more luxurious than a butter soft beige. My advice would be to look for a vintage version for a couple of reasons. The first being you can get some amazing quality suedes on the resale market for much cheaper than a new one, Plus suede that's been around the block means you can relax a little when wearing it, It may already have a couple of battle scars so you won't be wincing every time you brush against something that may graze it. If you must buy new look at And/Or, Mint Velvet and Zara.
This next trend is one that appeared on the catwalks for Autumn but burst onto the street style scene is plaid and checks in flannel. Brands such as Bottega and The Row have taken the humble plaid shirt and elevated it to chic status with wool & cashmere options. Styling tips to keep it as far away from lumberjack as possible is to choose a dark grey jean instead of blue denim or even a loose fit tailored trouser, Choose dark brown if you want an instant wardrobe refresh. Add a leather belt to sharpen it up, Or wear a white t-shirt and use your checked shirt as a belt and tie it around your waist as an accessory.
Instant street style cred without breaking a sweat.
